My 3rd baby shower was on July 1. Cindy's funeral was the day before, so we altered our plans, and I drove up to Irving Sunday morning and back when it was over. Sweet Amanda volunteered to be my road trip buddy, and we had a great time with 4 uninterrupted hours in the car just catching up. I was glad to have a conversation friend to pass the time!
This shower was given by some long-time friends of our family. I invited ladies from the church I grew up in, and it was so fun to see so many sweet ladies who have known me or my family for 20 years--and some of my Dallas friends and their moms. The hostesses decked out the house with my nursery colors, flowers, birds, delicious food and so many personal touches. I felt really special.
Here are a couple of photo collages of the event:
Cara and I got some great things--tons of blankets and outfits, a few funny gifts from Buck (my dad) and Harleigh and my glider! I'm starting to feel more and more prepared for her to be here, and simultaneously wondering if I have enough stuff for her--is that how it always feels? I have so many essentials and outfits, and there are a few more things we'll pick up for her in the coming weeks. I suppose everything else will have to be triaged and purchased when we realize we can't live without it any longer.
And honestly, we are so far beyond blessed with material things, above and beyond what so many people have that it sounds silly to be the slightest bit concerned with not having enough. We have necessary items, we have a safe place for her to stay, and we have love for her. We'll figure everything else out.
I have one more shower in Waco planned with my church friends in August, so for now we are focusing on unpacking the gifts, getting everything into its place and mentally preparing for Cara Beth! Come on, sweet girl!
