Friday:
Chance ended up working later than he planned, so we adjusted our plans a bit. We put Cara to bed when he got home, and then he fired up the grill a little later than we thought. He grilled burgers while I made the sides, and then we ate on the patio under the lights. The former owners left these lights, and they need a little cleaning up, but they made for such a nice ambiance.
We ate, talked about the future and lots of things, and then he flipped on his phone and played our song from our wedding--"How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor. We danced under the lights, and it was really sweet.
Saturday:
Our actual anniversary--6 years!
{BABIES WE WERE!}
Chance had to work in the morning (boo, no one would switch with him), so Cara and I played at the house. We went to visit Lindsey and Lilly, we ran errands, we ate breakfast together, and before we knew it, it was 12 and Daddy was home. Cara had a nap, we got cleaned up and rested.
When she woke up, we went to the zoo! It's kind of a tradition on our anniversary to go to the zoo. We normally take a weekend trip, and we've found ourselves in the zoo at the city we visit. This time we just did Waco's zoo!
{ponytail + daddy kisses!}
{Melt. My. Heart. Look at her dainty arms and petite stride.}
{sunnies with my sweetie--she wouldn't take them off!}
After the zoo, we went to nearby Torchy's Tacos for dinner. It's new to Waco and was really good! We got a ton of food and enjoyed every bite.
To round off our day of celebration, we had a movie night on the couch. We will have a fancy date next weekend when we have free babysitting (thanks, Mimi!), so that will be my next post!
Sunday:
We got up early for church, but I asked Cara to take a picture before we left. She ran to grab her new stool, took it to a spot on the wall, sat down and posed on it. This girl cracks me up!
I asked her to take one with me, and she yelled "NO!" and ran away. Well OK then... I still grabbed her for a shot, but she was still a little resistant. Gotta love a silly toddler.
After church and lunch, we tried to nap, but Cara had other plans. No sooner had I laid my head on the couch pillow and said, "OK, naps for us," then she was waking up screaming. We tried soothing, but not much worked. So instead we ran errands to HEB and Home Depot and played with books and toys and walking in all of our shoes.
At bedtime, we watched another movie (loving our new Apple TV Chance got from work and instant Netflix!) and prepped for the LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL. It promises to be a busy, productive, stressful, tearful, joyous week.
Next weekend's recap is sure to be full: date night, graduation, end of school, all kinds of fun stuff. Then, bring on summer!!!
