Weekend Recap

This weekend was the last weekend of school/first weekend of summer, and we had some big celebrations!

Friday:
I left school in a funk because I had planned to be completely done and walk away until the end of June when I teach a test prep week. But the preparations for the week took a lot longer for me to do on my own, and I never had time to clean out my room, get ready for summer, etc. So I was ALMOST done with school, but not quite, so mentally I was bummed. Chance and I still did some celebration--we got some takeout and yummy ketchup for Cara (yes, that's an apple slice she's dipping in her ketchup...) and got Sonic shakes after she went to sleep. :)

Saturday:
Saturday morning I had to be at graduation at 9 a.m. That was 1 hour before it started, so we had some time to take pictures with friends.

While I was gone, Chance took Cara to meet my mom in Hillsboro so they could keep her for the weekend. After the ceremony (which was my 1st MHS graduation--I'm excited for next year when I will have taught some of the graduates), I came home and took a nap. It was so glorious to sleep for as long as I felt like it without worrying if Cara would wake up too. We got ready again in the evening and started our big anniversary date night!

We went to Outback for dinner (and ordered waaaay up, thanks to our realtor's awesome thank-you gift to us for closing!). We ate yummy food and had a good time talking. After dinner, we went to see The Fault in our Stars. I'd read the book TWICE--finished it and immediately started reading it again and had been following all the press on the movie, so I was very excited to see it! It didn't disappoint at all. So much dialogue straight from the book, such clear emotion, and I cried multiple times, at the same places I cried in during the book plus more. Even Chance liked it too!

After the movie, we decided to be adventurous and stay out past our bedtime, so we went downtown to Muddle and had a drink. The place was bigger than I thought, pretty classy and a little crowded. We stayed for a while and then headed home.

Meanwhile... Cara was having the time of her life at Nana and Grandad's! M&D's floors were still being refinished, so Mom took Cara to Nana and Grandad's to stay for Saturday-Sunday. They kept sending us pictures of all the fun she was having--playing at their house, sitting in her new Sofia chair they got for her, wearing her new Elmo jammies they got for her (sensing a pattern?), eating at the big table, reading books, getting 100% spoiled with attention. EVERYONE was having so much fun with her!

Cara even slept on a pallet in Nana's guest bedroom for nap and nightttime and did SO GOOD. She woke up and sat up and didn't get off the pallet until one of them came in to get her. I'm so glad it wasn't an imposition for her to stay with them while we had our date!

Sunday:
Cara went to church with Mimi, Nana and Grandad and had fun at the church nursery.

We slept in (until a whopping 9 a.m.!). I woke up with a headache, but I kept trying to fend it off. We had breakfast at Cafe Cappuccino and watched the pouring rain outside the window.

After brunch, we drove to meet Mom and Nana. My headache burst into a full-blown migraine, so I slept all the way to Italy. It was so fun to see Cara when we got there, and she was running off tons of energy. We giggled and gave hugs and kisses, and then we headed home. She fell asleep in the car, and I fell back asleep too. When we got home, I was feeling AWFUL, so I laid down for a nap. Every few hours, I would try to get up but would feel nauseous or still in tremendous pain. I ended up staying in bed from 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon until Monday morning. This was the worst migraine I've ever had, and I felt so guilty that I couldn't hang out with Cara once we were home and that Chance had to do everything.

Sunday night was ROUGH, and I hated that I had a crummy ending to a wonderful weekend. It took through most of Monday to get back to feeling normal, but I got to start summer off right with lots of rest!

Can't wait to get a good start on the rest of my summer!
