Friday:
I had a ROUGH day at school. A couple of bad interactions with some kids, and that's not the norm anymore, so it bums me out more when it does. I told Chance we had to go out for some pizza, so we went to the little Italian hole-in-the-wall place near our house for a couple of slices. Cara loved hers too!
After a slice and some time with my family, everything started to look up. :) We went home and crashed early--Fridays are always so draining, and this one was especially so.
Saturday:
Chance went in to work for about 45 minutes to finish a project, and Cara slept until 8:45!!!! Glory be. When she got up, we found a show about dogs for her to watch. No Saturday morning cartoons for this one. She was enthralled by the puppies. We don't want a dog of our own, but Cara loves Harleigh and other people's dogs.
That afternoon, I hosted a baby shower for a sweet friend I used to teach with. We were classroom neighbors our first year and spent many hours talking and helping each other. Then she moved to another school, then the next year I did too, but we still get together to catch up. She's having a little girl in a month! I went to pick up the Crumpler cookies and put them in baggies with ribbon before meeting the rest of the hostesses at the Spice cafe.
After the shower, I raced home, changed clothes and picked up Chance and Cara, and we went to George's with Chris and Sarah.
We didn't take any pictures at dinner, but we had a lot of fun eating, talking, laughing, hanging out, etc. Cara did really well not fussing too much, even when she wanted to be out of the high chair. One of us held her in our lap, and sweet Sarah played with Cara on her lap, tossing her off and keeping her entertained. We're thankful for fun, sweet friends to spend time with!
Sunday:
That morning as we were leaving for church, Chance told Cara to get in her chair, then sit down, then look at him, then smile. She followed each direction so well, and did everything on command. This is new territory for us, and it's super fun! Funny girl. :)
The weather got bad a lot sooner than everyone thought, and the rain/sleet/freezing temps descended. Saturday was 80* and Chance wore shorts. This day was in the 30s and we wore sweats. Cara put her hand on the door and said, "cooooohhhhhl".
I had an Oscar party that I wanted to go to that night. It was touch-and-go for a while, but Ashley came to pick me up, and we drove reeeeeeeealllllly slowly to Jordan's. Several of us girls (and Chris) watched the red carpet, ate dinner (and tons of yummy candy snacks), made award predictions, critiqued fashion and laughed a lot. It was a cold, fun night, and I'm glad I saw at least 2-3 of the major winning movies. Now I know what else I need to see next!
{Chris and Sarah are just candidly like this, all the time.}
Ashley drove me home late that night, but we were told we had a late start the next morning (even Chance)!
(bonus!) Monday:
We all were able to sleep in a little bit, and then Chance took Cara to school, after she played in our room while we got ready.
Aunt Cayce came over to play after work, and we laughed at Cara's love of wearing boots (just like Aunt Cayce's) and marveled at her long hair! It's like it sprouted overnight.
We may have a late start again tomorrow, but we'll have to see what the weather does overnight. I won't complain too much as long as Cara can get transported to school OK and we don't cancel the whole day. I want to keep Easter Monday and Memorial Day! Keep warm and enjoy your week! Just one more until Spring Break...
