I talked about Monday in my extra-long weekend recap last week, so let's look at Tuesday-Sunday. I had a cold from Friday of last week-Sunday today (10 days total, the entirety of my break), so it was colored by that a little. Boo.
Tuesday:
Cara went to school because we had a couple of house showings lined up, and I had some errands to run as well. She had missed her friends and teachers from the long weekend and kept asking about Ms. Ariel, Ms. Helen, Cooper (Pooper), Cru (no-no), Riley, Taylor, Levi (sounds like "Bryce"??), Nisa, Cora and others. She says everyone's names at least 5-6 times a day. :)
I picked her up early, and we went home to get a bath and a snack and change to have her pictures made. We met my friend Jessica in Cameron Park to take her 18-month pics. They are going to be so good! You can see her other pics here, here, here, and here. We went home and packed a lot of things (including Po--just kidding!) to go to Dallas.
Wednesday:
We met some friends at the library for story hour with a puppeteer/musician. Picture Phoebe from Friends singing inappropriate songs to kids. It wasn't inappropriate, but it was different. Cara didn't sit still much anyway and just ran around the back of the room. Fine by me.
We hit the road during naptime to go see Buck and Mimi! When we got there, Nana and Grandad (who Cara has started calling Baba or Papa) were there too! Cara got spoiled with attention from here on out!
Thursday:
Cara slept in and we bummed around the house all morning. Cara was especially interested in the pattern and texture of the bathroom wall. :)
She was still fussy and sleepy when she woke up, but we had to go home... :( She didn't sleep one wink in the car, despite big yawns and space-y stares. So she had 1 hour of sleep all day. Cool! We were really excited to see Chance when we got home. We missed him!
Friday:
One more day of school for Cara, one absolutely restful day for Mama. After reciting her friends' names again, Chance took her to school. I got to unpack and straighten up the house, TAKE A NAP, clean out the DVR, run some errands while we had a house showing and enjoy my last official day of the break. It was so lovely.
I picked up Cara early, and instead of seeing a house we REALLY liked, we learned it had already gone under contract. We were SO sad, so we came home to play and met Chance to go out to dinner and drown our sorrows. There WILL be a house for us one day! But on the fun side, Cara and I got to play and watch 5 minutes of Monsters University before she lost interest. :)
Chance worked, so Cara and I ran to HEB and Target and played in the morning. When she went down for a nap, I did too, and then Chance came home and let me keep sleeping to fend off a migraine I'd developed.
When I woke up, we played more because it was raining outside. I painted Cara's toes bright pink! She was not a fan at first, and she kept staring at her feet saying, "Toes!!!" and looking unsure. But she came around and started saying, "pretty toes". I did it super fast, and I know she will love it even more one day. What a fun girly girl thing to do.
That night, Chance and I watched Catching Fire and the BU basketball game and I kept trying to feel better. Ugh.
Sunday:
Still had my migraine, so Chance took Cara to church while I slept. This was not a fun week to be sick, but I'd prefer it to be a week I have off instead of during the school week. We cleaned the house, had a showing at 3, so we ran errands to get Cara a few more clothes and to see the Edisons! The cousins had a lot of fun playing together and being crazy. We're all getting better about sharing people, things and laps. :)
I still have to go through these clothes to label and store them away. At least we only had to re-up her closet once in the last 6 months instead of every 3 months like before.
Tomorrow I'll go back to work, when we will have just 2 weeks until our state standardized assessment. No pressure, just the purpose of my job to get my kids to pass. Ha! It's been a wonderful week that has felt long and relaxing. If I wasn't sick, it would have been perfect! But I'm so grateful for the time I had with my girl and time to rest and feel better. Just a few more weeks until Easter break and a few more after that until summer. Holla! :)
