Friday:
It was the end of a loooooong week, and I worked a little late at school to get my room ready for testing. STAAR is on Monday and Tuesday of this week, so I left it all on the court with my kids as we reviewed last week. It was stormy and rainy when I left, so I ran a couple of quick errands by myself so I wouldn't have to drag Cara in and out of the rain.
I picked her up around 5 and went home to play until Chance got home too. We got out her letters from Mimi and started naming the ones she held up. I love these letters!
Cara's new things is "throw it" and then she throws whatever she has in her hand. That's fun... She was in the process of throwing the letter in the first picture. :)
Cara also got out a book of family pictures and got so excited when she found Nana and Grandad ("Baba", as she calls him). I made her find Nana again so I could get it on video. We need to get more pictures and update the book, because she loves to look through it and name everyone.
After Daddy came home, we ate leftovers from small group and read books until Cara's early bedtime.
We ALL went to bed early--I felt like I was hit by a Mack truck by 8:30.
Saturday:
I got up early to work the MISD job fair with some other English teachers. It was like grown-up sorority recruitment. We stood at our ELA table, talked to potential new teachers, collected resumes and talked about Midway. We probably saw 60 teachers for 1 open English position (so far), and probably a few more applicants online. It made me so thankful for my job, seeing things on this end. It's a wide funnel for few spots, and I'm so grateful to have a job I love and that is secure. I'm going to keep working my butt off to make sure it stays that way!
While I was working, Chance was on Cara duty. He took her to get breakfast at Shipley's, which I know she loved. He even did her hair all by himself! I told him if he is a little girl daddy, he's gotta learn sometime. I think it looks pretty good!
After breakfast, he took her to a friend's birthday party. What a dad! Cara played with the kids and jumped on her first trampoline. I think we know what she needs for Christmas...
She's still not QUITE big enough for it... :)
We left and ran a bunch of shopping errands for things for the house. We're going to buy a new fridge and have to buy a new dishwasher, so we shopped around. Home Depot, Lowe's, Best Buy, Academy, whew. We made the rounds. We're having some sticky times with the sellers of our new house, and so we're having to incur a lot of the expenses ourselves, which is sucky. But it is what it is, so we're just prioritizing what we really need first and will make other updates and fixes as we can later.
Cara was such a trooper for all our errands. We brought her some Goldfish and water and tried to keep her entertained in an endless stream of shopping carts. :)
Thinly-veiled fussiness right here...
We had dinner at Smashburger and finally got home about 6 hours after we left. Cara got a bath and went straight to bed! We watched some basketball, and I fell asleep early.
Sunday:
We went to church and Sunday School and then a training for a church service project. After lunch, I made a beeline for the bed! I got a short nap, but I kept coming to and thinking, "I am soooo comfortable." Ha! At least if I wake up during my nap, it's to realize that I'm comfy.
After we got up, we went to Cayce's to help her hang a few wall decorations, then we went to HEB and to pick up dinner.
Cara is 19 months old today, so I guess that means I have to start her monthly post soon. Probably best to not wait 2 more weeks before I do that... She was so happy playing at home this afternoon. Running through the house laughing, playing with Po, dancing and reading books.
Next weekend starts the packing of our lives, so this was probably the last fun weekend we could spend together for a while before the craziness begins. Once I can get through testing this week, my mind will be free to focus on the next hairy-scary thing in my life. :)
Y'all enjoy your week and the beginning of April!!
