Friday:
I ended a busy week at school and was FREE for Spring Break! I went to pick up Cara and played with her at home for a bit. Then I took her to meet Chance at work, and I went to meet Sarah & Johanna for dinner. The three of us hadn't caught up in a while, so we ate, chatted and laughed without any boys. I was feeling run down and like I had a cold, so I was itching to crawl into bed to talk to Chance, and then I never moved again for the rest of the night. I crashed hard!
Saturday:
I woke up feeling crummy, so Chance took Cara to HEB and some other errands so I could keep sleeping. I got up to feed her and clean up around the house. When she went down for her nap, we finished cleaning and straightening, and then Genny, our realtor, came over to take pictures of our house and officially put it on the market!
Here is the official listing, and we are hoping for an interested buyer to come check it out ASAP! We have found a few houses we like, but we need an offer on ours before we can make an offer on any of those. Hoping the timing works out and that God leads us to the right home!
After we listed the house, we went out for ice cream to celebrate. Cayce was keeping Murphee, and they decided to join us. We had fun with the girls at a table at DQ!
And they hugged goodbye at the end!!!! So sweet...
The rest of the night we chilled, ate leftovers, took out ALL of Cara's books and played. At bedtime, Cara was so silly--laughing when she would poke herself with her finger and hearing me say "owie owie owie". Then she FINALLY said her name on camera. She had started saying it occasionally to us, but we couldn't catch her saying it. I love hearing her say her name, after MILLIONS of times of us saying it, and I love that she's getting so articulate!
I still felt cruddy from my cold, so I was low-key for the rest of the evening.
Sunday:
Saint Chance took Cara to church so I could sleep. I slept from 10:30 (11:30 with the time change) until 7:45 a.m., then back to bed from 8:30-12:30 p.m. Guess I needed all that rest! We had lunch, and Cara had her nap, and I ran some errands and did some house things before getting cleaned up.
That evening, Chance and Cara and I met up with an old friend from college and Tri Delt days. Tamara lives in Oregon with her husband and 5-month-old daughter, Hannah, and we have kept in touch through social media, and they were making a tour of Texas and asked if we could get together. So of course, we had to get good old Texas BBQ at Rudy's and let our girls meet. We had such a good visit, and it was so great to meet Rian and Hannah and have them meet Cara, after we've heard about each other's families for years. What fun!
Since the next day was my first official day of vacation, I had to stay up late and watch a few movies to soak it up. I still have my cold/stuffy head, so sleep didn't come easily anyway...
Monday (bonus):
Cara and I spent the whole day together, and it was so much fun! She woke up a little later, and we played, had breakfast and went to HEB (after mama got some Starbucks after a late night + early morning... How good is the new vanilla macchiato??). She went down for an early nap while I showered and prepped the house for a showing (just in case--didn't happen, though). She had a dr. appt at 1:00, so I cut her nap short, but she was happy. She kept saying, "Nana...hiiii" (translation: "Hi, Dr. Anna!") to everyone in the waiting room, reception, nurses, all except for Dr. Anna herself. She got really quiet when she got her checkup.
Goldfish in a cup and a funhouse mirror make the doctor's office OK. She had a perfect checkup and no shots, so we were happy campers. We left to go to the Mayborn to meet some friends.
We walked around the Historic Village, Cara pet a baby chick, duck and gosling (and nearly yanked the head right off of the baby chick--oops!), then we went inside with Ashley, Benjamin and Brooklyn. Cara wanted to climb on the yellow school bus and not much else. I want to go back again when we have more time to really let her just run everywhere and have more fun. I love the Mayborn!
We ran to the mall to make a couple of exchanges and then stopped to get a treat from the chocolate shop. Cara loved getting messy, and I didn't mind that she was! :)
We went home, and she played with her magnets while I cooked. It was so awesome--she threw all the magnets on the floor, then then she put each one of them back on the fridge. I like that she's able to pick up her messes these days!
It's been a great, full day, and it's only the beginning of the week! I'll be busy getting her monthly update posted ASAP.
