Friday:
Cara and I ran errands after I picked her up before Chance got home. I cooked her very first fish sticks, and she loved them. It must be something ingrained in kids--they don't seem very appealing to me, but she ate 6 of them plus 2 cutie oranges! After her first bites--think she liked them?
After dinner, we kept her up a little late (up front honesty: we wanted to sleep in the next morning!), and we played games and played on the couch while we watched the Olympic opening ceremonies. Cara kept throwing herself against the couch cushion and got some crazy static in her hair.
Then we played some silly games on the floor. I kept saying "KABOOM!" in a really loud voice, and Cara would crack up. We've also been teaching her "ring around the rosy", and she likes to turn circles and fall down. We kept her amused for quite a while.
Chance and I finally got to watch About Time on the DVD I bought. I loved it all over again, and he thought it was funny too. Such a darling movie, and I cried and laughed at the same places this time too.
Saturday:
We slept in!!! Cara slept until about 7:30, but then put herself back to sleep until 9 a.m.!!!! We went to get her at 9:15 just to keep our schedule for the day. We got almost 10 hours of straight sleep. What an awesome way to start Saturday! Chance took Cara to get gas and get a donut at Shipley's while I got cleaned up. I met a friend for lunch at Cafe Cappuccino and caught up for a few hours, then I met Sarah and Jordan to get our nails done while Cara was napping. Fun to spend time with girlfriends doing girly things!
At home, we played with Cara for a while longer, did laundry, cooked her dinner, etc., and then our favorite Miss Tara came over to hang out with Cara because Chance and I had a DATE!
We went to dinner and then to the Waco Civic Theatre to see To Kill a Mockingbird. This is my favorite book of all time, and the stage production was really good! Some great actors, a true representation of the story and an entertaining evening. We had a great time together, and Cara and Tara (ha!) had fun too. Tara seems to always get Murphee and Cara to smile and laugh so well. I'm glad they had fun together while we were out.
Sunday:
We went to church, then home for lunch together. Cara has become such a little monkey that she wants everything that I have, so when she asked for my "dup" after lunch, I emptied it and gave it to her. Silly girl.
We ALL went down for naps after lunch, and felt REALLY refreshed afterwards. We had to go to HEB (again this weekend) for a few things, and then the Edisons came over to play! Afterwards, Cara continued to be mesmerized by the "Limpics" and mens' figure skating. I love every.single.minute of Olympic coverage (both summer and winter), so I record ALL of it to flip through. I can't for every even year in the future, to watch sports like gymnastics and ice skating with my girl!
Tonight is going to be an early bedtime and preparation for the week. I've got meals planned, ingredients purchased, activities scheduled, outfits picked out (for me and for Cara--a weekly ritual that makes Monday-Friday go so much more smoothly) and everything set for a new week! Hoping it continues to be smooth and uneventful. Enjoy your week as well!
