Weekend Recap

What a fun, big weekend we had! Fun times with friends, big purchases, good memories!

Friday:
I cooked a meal in the crock pot all day, so we stayed home in the evening once Chance got home from work. We ate a yummy dinner and played together. Cara showed off for the second time a pair of piggies. Ah! I just love being able to play with her longer hair these days. She doesn't love it yet, but we'll keep working on it.

Saturday:
Chance worked in the morning, so Cara and I got up and ready and went to HEB. We fought the Saturday morning crowd, got all our necessities, pushed back her nap and were busy all morning. Chance got home at 12:30, and by 12:40 we were loaded up in his car and heading to Arlington. You see, he'd found a truck that he really loved. We had been paying off hospital bills until last month, and now that we aren't, he was able to find a super great deal on an awesome truck for less than our monthly hospital bill. He had been driving a car for the longest time because it was paid off, but there have been several times when we've needed a truck. Sweet Chance sacrificed for us financially so we could get out of our debt, and now it was time to reward that!

We had an appointment at a dealership, and we got there around 2:30. We had forgotten how long buying a car takes, and didn't even think about arranging with Mom or Nana to watch Cara, so she came with us! Here she is, happy at first...
Four hours later... we were done with a truck in our possession! Cara did so great through the whole thing. I brought snacks, milk, books, her cell phone, the iPad, and the dealership had a coloring book and a nice, long hall for Cara to run. She was a little bored, I'm sure, but we just tag teamed her with walking or playing while the other signed papers or talked to people. It was an ordeal, but we got a great truck at the end of it all! It's pre-owned, but is in such great condition, has so many nice features inside, and so much room!! It's a white Ford F-150 Lariat crew cab. We love it!

We met Mom and Dad afterwards for dinner at Ball's Hamburgers--one of our favorites! Then we drove back to Waco while Cara slept. It was an exhausting day, but so fun. My car's anniversary is coming up, so apparently February is our month to buy cars.

Sunday:
We had volunteered several months ago to work in the church nursery during the service this week. Chance and I taught seven 3-year-olds (including the kids of some friends) for 1.5 hours Sunday morning. It was exhausting, but sweet to play and teach those kids. It also makes you very appreciative of your own child's teachers (which is probably part of the point).

After church, we had naps and I cooked some, and then we went to a Super Bowl get-together! Johanna & Justin invited a couple of us over to watch the game and enjoy snacks. She had decorated everything so cute--navy and orange plates/napkins/balloons for Chris & Sarah (the former Denver residents), and a Bingo game to play while we watched. We ate all kinds of yummy food, but then stopped having fun when the Broncos imploded. We did have fun together, talking, eating, watching Cara, but it was a sad game for our friends.

We stayed until the 3rd quarter, when Cara had to go to bed, and then got ready to face another week. Looking forward to the next weekend already!
