Baby Shower #2

My 2nd baby shower was the same week as my first-on Saturday, June 16. This one was given by some of my college and lifelong friends. We decided to have a brunch shower at Breadwinner's in Dallas. They got a big long table in a side room, and everyone got to have breakfast from a set menu and sit around to catch up. This was so much fun! I saw friends I spent time with last week, as well as girls I hadn't seen face-to-face in months. It was sweet, personal, intimate and beautiful. Only one of my hostesses lives in Dallas, so it was a great option to make it easy for everyone traveling. (Sad note: Emily's flight to Dallas got cancelled the evening before, after she'd been waiting at the airport for hours with Abigail. Talk about hellacious. I missed her lots, but I'm glad I get to see her in a couple of weeks in SA!)

Chance and I drove in late the night before and got to Irving around midnight because Cari had baby Murphee Friday at 9:30! I have a whole separate post about that day, but we were so glad it worked out for us to be there for the birth and get to Dallas before Saturday morning. Murphee is so sweet and cute and looks a lot like Mase did when he was born.

We got to the shower, and the girls had decorated the table and set lovely places for each person. We each had a menu, a cookie and a list of wishes each person could fill out for Cara. Chance and I read them all on the drive home, and LOVED reading what every guest said. They were funny, touching, personal and sweet. What a great memento to put in Cara's baby book to read for years to come.

While we ate breakfast, we talked to each other and filled out the cards. I had the most amazing strawberry and cream Belgian waffle (remember my craving for waffles last week??) that I wish I'd gotten a picture of. Then Summers and Allison kept the gifts coming--I would open a big sack, they would condense other gifts into the big sack and keep passing others to me. It was the height of efficiency.

I got some really cute things, including Cara's dress for Meredith's wedding (when she will be about 5 weeks old!), a baby track suit, onesies and tutus and the hostesses gave us our high chair! Since we were in a close setting, everyone got to ooh and aah over the gifts and see them. I really liked that.

After the presents, we had more time to chat with each other and take more pictures. Chance came at the end to say hi to our friends and help load up the car. We ran home to M&D's for a few minutes to look at the gifts and then head back to Waco. It was a whirlwind trip for sure, but such a special time with my friends. I have the sweetest, most supportive, loving, beautiful friends who showered me and Cara with love and happiness. I missed those friends and family who couldn't be there, but felt so glad to see and reconnect with some of my dearest friends too.

Next up: the hostess gift tutorial and the arrival of Murphee Leigh Edison!
