28 weeks--egg-cellent eggplant :)

Along: 28w1d
Size of baby: Sweet Pea is the size of an eggplant. It's a pretty big vegetable, and it's a good thing Cayce likes to eat them because we don't!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I'm guessing 15-17 lbs. I'm definitely feeling bigger/curvier.
Maternity Clothes: Some of the dresses I bought early on don't fit as cute as they used to. I'm in the market for more shorts or athletic shorts. Standard wardrobe for my hibernation week has been a large t-shirt and yoga pants (below my belly). Super comfy!
Gender: It's a girl! Cara Beth Connell
Movement: Movement is getting stronger and stronger. If I sit a certain way and she jerks, my whole upper body twitches. Hope I'm growing a strong girl! Her movements aren't uncomfortable yet, but I have quite a feeling that will be coming soon...
What I miss: cute clothes! I walked through Dillard's this week when I had to stop at the mall, and I missed looking through the racks and racks of cute clothes. Everything caught my eye, and I had to keep walking. I feel like I'm getting into a clothes slump. A smaller number of items that fit or are comfortable, but I'll just have to make do with what I have. Temporary clothes for me aren't as high a priority right now.
Cravings: popsicles, Raisin Bran, milk--fresh fruit popsicles have been SO. GOOD. as the weather is hotter. Delicious and refreshing.
Symptoms: lower back pain on one side--if I put too much pressure standing on my left leg, my back hurts. I get tired easily and HOT. Oh dear, is this when it begins? We had some minor A/C issues this week and got it fixed, but I got really hot easily, in or out of the house. So glad it's fixed now, because this summer is NOT the time for those problems. And like I mentioned earlier, just the feeling that I'm getting bigger-and looking bigger-is strange to get used to. I'm also experiencing some pregnancy brain and crazy dream issues. This week, I had a dream that included a pet snake, an exotic vet visit and playing defensive tackle for the Cowboys against RG3's Redskins. All in the same dream. Strange.
Best moment of the week: So much! Hibernation, a girls' day at brunch and the pool, reading my Nook, being crafty to make hostess gifts, watching Baylor baseball. We played the Regional tournament in Waco for the first time since 2005, and I sat through EVERY game cheering. A double-header last Sunday in the 95* heat sure was fun-or something... Winning was fun, but sweating for 7 hours outside wasn't. But the absolute best part of the week was putting the crib together and getting her room set up a little. I will do a gigantic nursery show-and-tell when we get everything, but it feels like a nursery with the crib in place, and I love everything about it. We transferred the guest bed across the hall and set up that room too, and I'm really happy with how everything is turning out.

Looking forward to: My first shower on Sunday, and my second shower next Saturday! I can't believe it's time for those already, and I'm excited to see friends and family and prepare for Cara Beth. I'm also doing VBS at church this week and having more down time in the afternoons. Pools and sno cones?! Yes please!

  1. Loved your darling shower invite. Sad I'm missing it- but I've sent something in my place. A little love from Oregon :)
