Week 21--beautiful banana

Along: 21w0d
Size of baby: Sweet Pea is the size of a banana--she is 7 inches long and almost a pound!
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I went to the doctor Tuesday and have officially gained just 5 lbs. I'm a little surprised, but I guess it's all belly. All my normal clothes still fit fine--just tighter across the middle. I guess at some point I'll pack on some pounds more heavily, or I'll begin to retain fluids, but for now I'm happy with 5 lbs. and content to keep on trucking.
Maternity Clothes: I have a few half-panel pants that start to get uncomfortable on the lower part of my belly by the end of the day. Early in my pregnancy, I didn't like full-panel pants, but now it's what is most comfortable and supportive.
Gender: It's a girl! Cara Beth Connell
Movement: Felt it for sure twice last week, and little bits here and there. Nothing specific or consistent, but it's still really cool!
Sleep: Doing OK this week. I'm feeling a little run down from a week of allergy symptoms (stuffy head, runny nose, scratchy throat, gunky chest), so I'm trying to sleep more and keep rested to stay well. I love the body pillow more each week.
What I miss: free time! School has been really busy, and TAKS is coming next week, and I've just gotten really behind and flustered at school. With sharing a car with Chance, I try to be ready to leave school when he comes to get me, usually around 4:30. I don't like to work late if I don't have to, but I also don't want him to wait on me. I've been working harder and busier during the days, and the kids have been wearing me down. I miss not having a weight on my shoulders. 28 days until summer!
Cravings: Still lots of milk, chicken noodle soup for lunch each day, sno cones (starting my summer treats early). I have been eating lots of fruit cups--the kind with all the cherries inside. Major yum.
Symptoms: fatigue, a growing belly--which has led to a plethora of former (sweet) students coming to my door to rub the belly. :)
Best moment of the week: Registering at Babies R Us last weekend! We got a registry set up and spent a couple of hours in the store. It was overwhelming, but I'd gotten good advice from friends and books, so we made the big decisions and did a lot more online later. We bought furniture (a crib and a changer/dresser), and Nana & Grandad surprised us by already buying our carseat and stroller combo! I set up a Target registry online, but haven't done much with it yet. It's fun to think about what all we will need for Cara, but also daunting to think about what to get and where to put it later.
Looking forward to: The weekend! Friday night dinner with girlfriends, Baylor baseball on Saturday and Sunday (defending a 21-game winning streak against those silly Aggies), cooking monkey bread and getting as much sleep as I possibly can. It's going to be a busy week next week, so I'll need all the rest I can get!

  1. Glad you are doing well! I didn't gain much weight until the end of my pregnancy.
