Sweet Pea's Gender Reveal Party

The last post was a long one, and this is one where the pictures can do most of the talking. Dear, sweet Amanda had the idea to have a gender reveal party, took the Sweet Pea theme and ran with it. So many details were so perfect and touching, and we had such a great time. Our hearts were full of love and support by the end of the night.

We invited our families and some Sunday School friends here to celebrate. (Chance and I made a few phone calls to our other nearest and dearest Friday night and Saturday morning to share the news with them.) Amanda took more than 200 pictures, and I whittled it down to 40 or less to share. I posted them on my facebook, and I'll share most here.

We were excited to tell our friends we were having a girl, but even more excited to introduce our daughter by name. We'd picked a name for both genders before the appt., and spent Thursday and Friday calling her by name to each other.

Her name is Cara Beth Connell.

We decided on Cara a while ago, after I heard it, and it just stuck with me. We really liked names that were classic, elegant and sounded nice with our last name. Her middle name was harder to settle on. We had several that we liked equally, so Chance got to cast the deciding vote. I will probably call her just Cara, but Cara Beth is cute and flows nicely. Cara means "dear" like "sweet", so our little Sweet Pea has some reference. Here are some of the best pics from our night:

See the Sweet Pea green lanterns? They have a pink hairbow or a blue bowtie on them. :)

Guests made predictions by writing on sweet peas.

Friends brought books to stock our children's library.

Love that crowd reaction.

After pictures, we had yummy cake with pink frosting. (Check out the pea pods Amanda made out of towels and socks. She had bigger ones with onesies too. So cute!)

Sweet friend celebrating Sweet Pea

We had such an amazing weekend with friends and family. Chance and I have had more fun and great memories than we've had in quite a while. I can only imagine that it just gets better. Ahead is buying bedding and furniture and lots of showers this summer. Can't wait!
