Sharing the good news

A secret like this one would not stay under wraps for long! Luckily, we were going to see our families soon after we found out.

We went to San Antonio on Wednesday, Dec. 28, for the Alamo Bowl, and told Chance's parents Wednesday night in the hotel, his middle sister later that night, and his older sister with her husband and son the next day. Everyone was so excited and surprised, especially since his oldest sister is pregnant with #2 and due in June. There will be two babies in the family this summer.

Friday, we drove back from San Antonio, stopped off in Waco, then went straight on to Irving. (Cover story for the trip: wedding dress shopping with my best friend the next day. I really did get to do that and had a great time.) My parents had NO IDEA what was coming, and we were able to get it on video. We'd bought a Flip camera a while ago to use for this occasion, and pretended that we bought it with Christmas money. We got it out to show them, started describing how it worked, and then I said, "We'll probably get a lot of use out of it in about 9 months when we have our baby." M&D went DEAD silent and still as they processed the information, then erupted with shrieks and hugs. It was the best moment to capture on video. :)

We told a few close friends here and there, but decided to wait until closer to the end of the 1st trimester to spread the news far and wide. The wait is killer!

Here's the video. Click to make it bigger.
