Finding out & telling Chance

I found out I was pregnant at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011. I took a negative test on Thursday, Dec. 22, and was bummed that we had not been successful that month. I felt a little funny over Christmas--excessively tired, going to the bathroom more frequently--but I chalked it up to a head cold that everyone around me had.

We spent Christmas Eve in Waco and Christmas day and the day after in Irving with my family, but I couldn't shake the nagging feeling. Chance went to work early Tuesday morning, and I couldn't sleep. I got up and took a pregnancy test and stared at it in shock as I tried to convince myself there really were 2 pink lines there. I needed more proof, so I drove to the drugstore to buy a digital test (and a box of cereal--I was hungry!). Further confirmation attained, I didn't know what to do with myself! I was shaky, giddy, disbelieving, and ready for 4:30 for Chance to get home.

I kept myself busy by running errands all day and figuring out how to tell Chance. I bought him a sweater he'd wanted with Christmas money and put it in his stocking that was still up, and I slipped both positive tests in the toe. It was an excruciatingly long day, and Chance worked a little later than usual. I had been sitting on the couch for an hour when he finally got home.

I hugged him and talked to him for a minute and tried to play cool, then I told him I had something for him. I took him over to the stockings, and he pulled out the sweater. He liked it and hugged me, and I told him there was more. He dug out the tests from the toe, knew instantly what they were, and grabbed me in a huge hug. We cried, we laughed, we stared in amazement. We fought the urge to shout from the rooftops and drive to tell our families that night. :)

We have such sweet memories from that day and made lots of plans for the coming days--to tell our loved ones!
