Our tradition for at least the last 5 years is to go to the Crumpton's house for an NYE party. The parties have evolved over the years as we've moved, gotten older, had kids, etc., but they're always so much fun and have a different theme.
We have had red party, a white party, a blue party, a tacky Christmas sweater party, but this year was my favorite--PAJAMAS! Ashley made sure to clarify: don't come in what you wear to bed, come in pajamas.
I was happy to oblige in my newly-purchased Forever Lazy. I may have bought it for the party, but I've worn it around the house for laughs a few times. It's really warm, but actually pretty comfortable. It makes you look like a giant, but I can see the appeal--just not for wearing it out of the house.
We always have a white elephant exchange, and that's always really fun to plan for. This year, I gave one lucky recipient (Lucy) a set of my teacher school pictures from August. I can't imagine why she didn't want them... And I also bought a horrendous pooping Santa toy. He poops out brown jelly beans and is just awful-perfect for the party! Amanda ended up with him.
We ate lots of snacks, played games (4 on the Couch and Fishbowl) and watched football and the ball drop on the East Coast at 11. We got so wrapped up in one game that we tried to pause before midnight, but when we looked to the TV for the countdown, it hadn't come on, and we'd missed the strike of midnight. We're so old. We kissed and toasted the new year anyway and took some silly selfies.
We had to leave to get to Britni's house, where the kids were sleeping while a babysitter kept them. Poor Cara was a little disoriented, but went back down at home just fine. I always look forward to this party each year, and I'm glad Ashley is such a good hostess to plan them! Can't wait for NYE 2014!
