39 weeks--weighty watermelon
Along: 39w0d--so so so ready!
Size of baby: Sweet Pea is the size of a watermelon--between 6-7 lbs and 20 inches long. This watermelon was HEAVY! We cradled it like a baby for visualization.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I gained 2.5 lbs since last week, so now I've gained about 34 lbs. My feet are getting and staying pretty swollen, but I've also pretty much given up any sort of food restrictions. At this point, if it sounds good or makes me feel good, I want to eat it. :)
Maternity Clothes: very few things fit comfortably, which has made going back to work this week difficult. I wore 2 pairs of pants on alternating days. :) I'm always happy to get home and put on my athletic shorts and big t-shirt.
Gender: It's a girl! Cara Beth Connell
Movement: I think she's dropped more this week, and some teacher friends told me so after a day or so that they noticed she was lower. I've also been trying to decipher if her movements are slowing down, but I'm also probably reading into things as well. One of my favorite movements was when I felt both her knees at the top of my belly protruding out at the same time. They were knobby and intentionally pressed out. So cute and fun!
What I miss: my ankles, moving normally (the waddle is more pronounced), sleeping in, sleeping a full night, deep breaths, staying cool
Cravings: sweet foods, ice water, milk, sno cones--cold and refreshing
Symptoms: her dropping, feeling sharp pains occasionally, not sleeping well, the waddle--is wishing her to come a symptom? :)
Best moment of the week: going back to work hasn't been the BEST moment, but it has been fun to get into a semi-routine and start to get things ready for my kids. I'd like to be able to meet them on Monday (and maybe work through Wednesday) and get things somewhat settled in my classroom. It's been a long, tiring week or work and sitting and meetings, etc., but I have enjoyed getting to know ALL the new teachers and administrators and get excited for a new school year. Seems like even though we mourn the loss of summer, starting back to school is like jumping on a speed train that just sucks you in. I'm SO GLAD my lessons are all done and ready to go!
Looking forward to: meeting our sweet baby girl!!!! I'm getting so anxious... Since we have been ready for so long, the more we have to wait, the worse it feels. To quote Tom Petty, "The waiting is the hardest part." We want her so badly to be here, but we also want her to be healthy and come on her own time. It's an excruciating dichotomy. We keep saying, "Maybe tomorrow," and one day it will be true. The next weekly blog post is scheduled for my due date, so we'll see if I'm back with an update or back a few days later with a baby story!!

"At this point, if it sounds good or makes me feel good, I want to eat it." You're just like me, and there's nothing you can do about it! [:>)
ReplyDeleteWe are also impatiently awaiting the new beginning! I hope you can get comfortable this week. Can't wait!
I agree - the waiting is the hardest part! I am ready to pounce on the phone whenever it rings. And by the way - you look simply marvelous. You don't look like you're nine months pregnant and back to work full-time. You're one beautiful Mama! Call me...maybe tomorrow??
