Along: 38w0d--seriously, any day now. Please?
Size of baby: Sweet Pea is the size of a wintermelon--between 6-7 lbs and 20 inches long. I'm not sure what it is, but it looks like an elongated watermelon. No idea what's inside of one.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: I gained 4 lbs since last week, so now I've gained 31 lbs. It feels like a lot of fluid retention, but I HAVE been indulging guilt-free in some of my favorite foods in the last week--more on that in a minute. :)
Maternity Clothes: Chance's t-shirts fit better than mine, though I do still have some "magic" t-shirts that are mediums and larges that still seem to fit. Not so comfortably. I packed my yoga and lounge pants for the hospital, so I've been living in one pair of athletic shorts when I'm at home.
Gender: It's a girl! Cara Beth Connell
Movement: Pretty sure she has dropped this week. I feel her squirming still, but it's way lower than she used to be. I don't think the top of my belly is as high as it used to be, so when she kicks against the upper end, it's not in my ribs as much.
What I miss: not walking with a waddle. :) I've gotten a lot looser and wider. I miss being cool (even my EARS were hot today!) and not getting a sore back when I sleep. I'm GOING to miss my summer days--school starts back on Monday with staff development, and then I'm sure I'll miss my comfy couch and being able to sit with my feet propped up.
Cravings: anything sweet! I had salty cravings at the beginning of my pregnancy, and now my sweet tooth has returned with a vengeance (a 4-lbs-in-1-week vengeance!). U-Swirl froyo, Health Camp s'mores shake, Katie's Custard straw-bana, fruit popsicles, milk, cheese. Pretty much if it's cold and sweet, it sounds good to me!
Symptoms: dropping and pressure, some contractions, Dr. Micus telling me that I've made progress at my appt. Wednesday, swollen toes and feet and fingers, insomnia, fatigue--fun list, eh?
Best moment of the week: getting my classroom set up! Chance came on his half-day off and for a couple hours after work 2 days this week and helped me unpack my cabinets, move some furniture hang some border and set things up. He was SUCH a help, and I couldn't have done it on my own. It's not perfect, but it's close, and if Cara decides to come before the first day of school (Aug. 27), I feel very comfortable having my sub be in my room and know what to do with everything. There are post-it notes on all my cabinets and books so that she knows what I use stuff for, posters on the walls and a technology request filed for her. I'm feeling no stress about school (probably because I know how short a time I'll be there and because of all the lessons I planned), so it doesn't seem so bad to go back on Monday for work week. At least I can sit there and not waste my sick days. I'm sure it will be tiring, though.
Looking forward to: Every day we say, "Is it today?" or "Maybe tomorrow," about Cara Beth. It's hard not to get excited about the progress I'm making, because I know it could still be a couple of weeks before she comes, but I'm just so anxious for her to be here, it's almost like I'm willing her to be early or on time. Make sure to vote in the poll about when you think she'll be here! One day, we will be right when we say, "Maybe tomorrow." Let's hope it's soon!

YES! Let's hope it's soon! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI have goosebumps just thinking about when you will know that "today is the day!" Praying for y'all and praising God for the joy that you will soon experience!
