Cara's Nursery!

I have been waiting for this post for quite a while--we had SO. MANY. nursery projects to complete, and we finally finished all of them last night! As her due date gets closer and closer, I find myself just walking into her room and sitting in the glider or standing in the middle of the room and looking around, picturing what it will be like when she is IN it!

It all started with the green walls and white trim that we selected when we moved into the house. I always knew the green room would be the nursery. When we found out I was pregnant, I knew I wanted to do blue and green and brown for a boy or purple and green and white for a girl. I love pink, but I wanted something more unique. It created some difficulties, trying to match or coordinate lavenders and purples, but I'm SO HAPPY with the way every detail turned out.

We had a lot of hands to help us get the nursery finished, but I'm proud to say my designs came to fruition, and it's just what I pictured it to be when we started. I love the colors, the feeling, the furniture, the organization, the personal touches--everything. Now that I can say that we are officially finished decorating, I can also say that we're ready for our baby girl to come live in it!! (If I could just finish my last few weeks of lessons as quickly...) Here is a tour of her room:

 {I made this canvas with fabric, buttons and ribbon.}

 {The view looking into her room.}

 {looking to the right}

 {Amanda made the "cara" letters after we saw them online. They match the paint and look wonderful over the dresser.}

 {changing station}

 {hamper, diaper genie and humidifier}

 {Chance will still claim the vinyl letters were really rough to install, but it got better once I took over. :) It was hard, but I love them so much!}

 {dresser drawers: pjs and sleep sacks}

 {onesies, organized by size}

 {diapers and other necessities}

 {still more storage--love it all!}

 {Chance and I built the cornice board, and he mounted the monitor behind it.}

 {LOVE our bedding so much!}

 {Mom's repurposed quilt rack, newly painted and holding the bedding quilt and Cara's heritage quilt}

 {I painted her monogram letters.}

 {glider and table: reading nook, feeding site, rocking center, etc.}

 {Mom and I found this table at an antique store in Waco, and Grandad refinished and painted it for me. It's perfect.}

 {bow holder and growth chart!}

 {Here's the other half of the vinyl phrase--lyrics from "Sweet Pea" by Amos Lee}

 {I really dig these prints--minimalist, pictorial representations of classic children's stories that I found online. The English teacher in me is happy. :)}

 {Her whole reading nook, with other knick knacks and storage--just across from the glider for easy access.}

 {Lindsey made my diaper wreath for the hospital! There is a new rule prohibiting things hung on the outside doors, but I can put it up in my room.}

 {shoes, burp cloths, blankets--organization!}

 {There is still lots of space in her closet! And I got to keep the banners friends had made for showers and parties for a sweet touch.}

 {little socks in a jewelry hanger}

 {She has so many clothes!!}

Now we truly are ready for her to be here. We've installed the car seat and had it inspected, built some swings, put together the Pack 'n Play for the first week or so, gotten a baby tub and washed some newborn laundry. It's such an exciting and agonizing time waiting for her arrival. We want her to be here so badly, but know that we probably still have a few weeks left to go. We'll make the most of these last 2-3 weeks as a family of two, while still being anxious for the drop of a hat! Life is about to change in a big way, but we couldn't be looking forward to it any more. :)

  1. Okay- the shoe/ blanket/ burp cloth organization on your closet door- genius. And the jewelry one for socks- genius. I'm so stealing those ideas for our next one some day!!!
