Weekend Recap

The countdown is on for our remaining weekends in our house and our "free time" as family. We spent our weekend packing and playing.

Friday:
I picked up Cara early from school so I could make sure to see both her teachers before they left. It was Cara's last day in that class, so we took them some flowers, a gift card, a picture of Cara and a note. Cara helped me deliver the goodies, then we gave hugs and had sweet goodbyes with Miss Helen and Miss Ariel. We will still see them, but it won't be in the same way. We sure love those ladies!

Cara and I drove to the mall to buy her new shoes. She walked instead of riding in the stroller, so it made it hard to keep up with her, but she liked the freedom. She HATED having her foot measured, so we just tried on some pairs until we found the right ones. A few dollars (ha!) later, we were done. We got home before Chance, so we played for a while. I snapped this video of her asking to get up. It's a common phrase in our house lately. She is heavy!! But I'm happy to oblige.

We ate leftovers and chilled for the rest of the evening. The stress of the week had taken its toll on us! During dinner, I played Cara some videos from Frozen. Chance snapped this picture of her watching them and smiling. I can't wait for her to watch the whole thing with me one day!

Saturday:
We had an all-church workday, so Chance and Cara went up there, and I stayed home to gather boxes from friends and pack. I got the whole pantry (except the few things we need for the next 10 days) packed in several boxes, cleaned out Cara's closet of burp rags, blankets and old baby things (while shedding many a tear for the small things my big girl won't need anymore...), took some decorations off the walls and loaded up my Mary Kay inventory. It was a productive few hours of solitude!

They got home, Cara laid down for her nap, and I did some tax prep work, more packing and showered. Cara insisted we read Princess Baby, one of her new favorite books. She loves to say "Princess", and it sounds really funny.

We met some friends for a spontaneous dinner at Chuy's (my reward after a hellacious week), and Cara had fun sitting next to her Daddy at dinner. Pardon the red light from the heat lamps outside.

Cara and Reed had fun with Miss Sarah until Cara gave Reed the stink eye. She's pretty good at that!

After dinner, we crashed again. The hellacious week was catching up with me.

Sunday:
I got up to start getting ready when the rain came pouring down. That, coupled with my headache, drove me straight back to bed. And lucky too--Cara slept until 9 a.m.!! That's 13 hours! We lounged around, ate breakfast, played while I packed some more boxes and had a relaxing morning. It was so nice to take it easy, be a little productive and make good use of some stolen time.

Cara loved her waffle with peanut butter for breakfast. She had it in her eyelashes, up her nose, on her face. The mark of a yummy meal!

Sweet Cara LOVES Po, and Po is just tolerant of her. He is her favorite "person" and the most talked about member of our house. So she found him after breakfast in my closet and got eye-to-eye with him. It didn't last long, because her high-pitched squeals drove him away. But it's cute to watch her love him.

After her nap and more box-packing, we got cleaned up and went to HEB. It was the worst time of day to go, and so much food was out of stock, but we had to get some necessities for the last time in this house. We picked up a lot of staples to eat on until next week and carry us through the move. Lots of pouches for Cara and lots of PB&J for us! :)

Before we left, Cara made sure to kiss Po. I couldn't get it from a good angle, but she attacked him with an open mouth over and over again. No wonder he ran off.

We cleaned up the house, put her to bed, watched a little TV and got things ready for the week. Cara had her first day in her new class to get ready for, but she wasn't tired for a while. We listened to the monitor as she babbled, rolled around and played for almost an hour. Silly girl!

Monday:
Today was back to teaching for me after testing and movies last week. Cara had a great day in her new class and seemed like she was totally in her element when I picked her up! As predicted, the move is harder on me than it was on her.

She looks SO MUCH BIGGER than she did just yesterday. Her hair was longer, she looks older--it happened overnight!

We ran errands after school and played at home before dinner. Again tonight, Cara babbled and played in her crib. I took a million videos, but most of them are gibberish. This one was cute, though, and she said, "Daddy, Buck, bear," and when I wasn't filming, she said, "night night bear, night night lovie, love you" and my heart melted. So sweet!!

I'm hoping for a good, calm last full week of teaching before I'm off several days next week to move and for Easter. It's going to be a whirlwind. One more weekend to pack and clean... Hope we can get it all done!

Enjoy your lovely week!
