Weekend Recap-last weekend in our house!

Well, we were certainly busy this weekend with getting things ready for the move and enjoying our last weekend in our house. I've run the gamut of emotions about all of this, and I think I'm at the point where I'm just ready for it to be over with so we can settle and stop thinking about so many logistics.

Friday:
Cara went back to school after being out Thursday with pneumonia... Poor thing! We caught it super early on Wednesday afternoon, Chance stayed home with her Thursday because of the fever, then she was feeling more like herself on Friday. I picked her up early, and we ran errands and went home to play and wait on Daddy. She walked in the kitchen and said, "Pouch. Apple Pouch." Well ok then... Give the girl what she wants!

We had leftovers when Chance got home, and he played games with Cara in her high chair. She loves to interact with him especially at the dinner table.

We ALL went to bed early that night--the stress of the week, everyone being sick and knowing we had a busy weekend ahead of us made me sleepy.

Saturday:
Everyone woke up early (blurse of going to sleep early the night before), so we bummed around. Chance had to run to the church for an errand, so Cara and I played. I wasn't feeling great, so when he got home, he let me go back to bed for a little while to sleep it off. He packed boxes with Cara and played with her. What a GREAT daddy! When I got up, we had lunch, Cara took a nap, we packed boxes with fervor. We did the bathrooms, the closets and hallway closet. Between us, we packed 5 trashbags FULL of clothes and shoes for Goodwill. Holy moly. But it felt good to know we're not going to move the junk we haven't used in months.

I did find a gem in our bathroom cabinet. Anyone need shower gel? Apparently, I have enough to last a lifetime. #doomsdayhoarders

Mom bought me a bunch last year for Christmas, and then this past Christmas too. It's Wild Honeysuckle, my favorite, and I won't run out any time soon. Cara woke up too early, it seemed, because we wanted to keep packing. But we played on our bed, and she helped us a little bit. She laughed with me and then showed me how "strong" she is.

We did some more playing and packing, then we got cleaned up. Cayce offered to watch ALL 3 cousins that night while Cari & Ricky went to her reunion and so Chance and I could have a date! We had a quick dinner at Whataburger--don't laugh; I haven't had a cheeseburger in WEEKS, and it was what I was craving. #worththepoints Then we went to see Divergent. I read all 3 books, hated the last 2, but really liked the first 1. The movie was good, and even Chance liked it. I'm not sure how I'll feel about the next 3 movies, though... But we had a great time being out together. Cayce was so good to text us pictures of the kids having fun together. I love this slice of crazy life!

We woke Cara up from Cayce's and took her straight home to bed. No tears from her at all! Just a little confusion. :) She slept great the whole night.

Sunday:
We all got up and went to church and Sunday School and had a celebratory Palm Sunday service.

Then the busy-ness began. We picked up lunch, ate and put Cara down, packed a couple of boxes, I cooked a meal for a friend, Chance and I separately had to run 2-3 errands a piece, so we had to tag-team because Cara was sleeping. At 4, we went to the church for an outreach event to give gifts to nearby community members. We dropped off our gift and then went to see my friend Erin, who I used to teach with at Waco High. She just had a baby, and we haven't been able to meet Miss Emerson Sloane until now! Erin was my first teaching friend--her French classroom was next to mine, we had a lot of the same kids, we were close in age, and we just developed a bond. I'm so glad we've stayed friends when our jobs took us elsewhere. Emerson was adorable, looked just like her daddy, and was so calm. I forgot how sweet it is to sway a baby to sleep in your arms. Meanwhile, my busy toddler was running around their house, reading Emerson's books, eating Goldfish and playing with their puppy. Oh, and being jealous that Mommy was holding someone other than her. Miss Priss. :)

We got home in time to feed Cara, give her a bath, put her to bed and collapse ourselves. It was such a full day!

We decided not to pack more boxes because the movers can do whatever we don't get to when they come on Wednesday. It's so overwhelming, and I'm glad we have hired help. It's too hard to get everything done when you're doing a door-to-door move AND you work a full-time job AND you have a curious toddler under your feet. Plus, all our friends are older than we used to be, many have kids or other responsibilities, and so we felt bad for asking for help to move. I feel good of what we got done (you should see our stacked garage!), and so now we'll just go with it when the pros come tomorrow! I can't believe it's finally here and has happened so fast.

Next weekend's update is sure to be a big one! Moving, Reed's first birthday party, a big Easter celebration, settling into the house. I'll try to find the time to update!
