Friday:
Our weekend was kind of a "homebody" weekend, but it was also really busy. Chance left us to go hunt Friday evening, so it was just me and Cara after school. We met up with Cayce, Cari and Murphee for a girls' dinner at George's. Cara ate a TON, and we had a good time. She let me put a headband in her hair again! It's been a while since she's worn a head accessory and not torn it out immediately. Success!
I went home and put her to bed, cleaned up the house a little and got on the couch to watch a scary movie. Maybe not the best idea, but I only had 1 eye on it because I was also on the computer buying a second convertible carseat for Cara and 3/4 of our Christmas presents (thanks, Amazon!). It was a pricey but productive night. I didn't go to sleep until almost midnight!!! Of course, I woke up at 5:30 like my normal body alarm, and Cara decided to wake up at 6:30, almost an hour earlier than usual. It was a looooong, sleepy morning.
Saturday:
We had breakfast and played around the house with our books and new early Christmas present from Emily--a personalized crown for Cara! She loved it!!
I had a ton of groceries to get for us and for a baby shower, so we hit up HEB around 9 a.m. with all the other parents and early risers. Cara liked to chew on the boxes of things I put in the cart. She picked up a package of frozen blueberries and kept making a surprised face when it was cold. Silly girl!
Happily, Chance got a deer early Saturday morning and came home to be with us around Cara's naptime! That gave me time to bake a cake, make a punch and a fruit salad for the shower since he was home to lend a hand with Cara. Even better, once we ran some errands together, he took her on some more and let me go home for a nap since I'd been up since 5:30 a.m. What a guy! We had a picnic on the living room floor to watch the Baylor game (Sic 'Em!) and went to bed early!
Sunday:
After church, I helped host a baby shower for our friend Kristen and baby A. She and Joey aren't finding out the gender of the baby, so we did a green/yellow "little bear" theme for the shower. It was really fun to see our friends and celebrate her baby. And we had really yummy food and a fun create-your-own ABC book guests helped to draw.
While I was gone, Cara only slept an hour (this one-nap transition is tough--she usually tries to take 2 naps on the weekends, but isn't always successful), so she was ready to play when I got home. We went to see Aunt Cayce and read a million books. Good thing Santa is bringing Cara a PBK bookcase for Christmas because homegirl LOVES to "read"--that's pretty much all she does at home to play.
We wrapped up our Sunday with some TV and football and takeout. One more week until Thanksgiving break--and Cara's ear tubes. This week is going to fly by, and I'm looking forward to some time off!
In next weekend's post: CHRISTMAS DECORATING!!!!!!!!!!!!
