We set out that morning and rode the train from Irving station to the front entrance to the Fair. How nice! We brought jackets, umbrellas, boots and towels and prepared to face the elements. We ate FLETCHER'S CORNY DOGS, lemonade, fried cookie dough and fried Nutella (not a fan, so disappointed), wished I had enough tickets for a fried s'mores, saw all the exhibits and the cars, strolled the midway, watched the dog show and splashed in puddles. OK, that last one was just me.
Cara fought a nap until 1 p.m. and conked out for an hour. We didn't know that she would start to drop a nap that week, so it was an adventure for a couple of days. We had fun with Mom and Dad making memories at the first time all 3 of us visited the State Fair. We'll definitely be back!
{Sweet Buck whispering to his Cara Beth. I love this candid shot.}
{Riding the train with Buck and Mimi. She did so good and ate all her breakfast on the train. Future big-city liver or European traveler?}
{Well-prepared for the rain}
{Big Tex 2.0. Cara wasn't impressed.}
{Fletcher's corny dog! Who cares that it was 10 a.m.? That's the State Fair breakfast of champions.}
{Fried cookie dough was delicious and warm. Still wish I'd gotten my fried s'more too...}
{We tried to cover up Cara in the stroller to keep her dry and encourage a nap. She wasn't having it and kept peeking around the side. Sweet girl fought that nap for hours.}
{Car show was super fun! Chance drooled over lots and lots of trucks.}
{Surprise kiss in front of this cool bear sculpture!}
