Cara is one month old!

Well, technically she's almost 7 weeks old. I'm still trying to figure out this time-for-blogging thing, but I want to get better about documenting her monthly growth. Isn't she cute? She's grown a lot from birth-4 weeks...

Stats: At her 2-week doctor's appointment, she'd gotten back to her birth weight, 7 lbs 7 oz. We went back at 3 weeks for a reflux check and she weighed 8 lbs 7 oz. Then we went back again 5 days later, and she weighed 8 lbs 15 oz! Holy moly, growing girl! She's probably close to 22 inches by now, but we haven't measured that yet.

Milestones: She's focusing on our faces, tracking us a little bit, grasping our fingers with her hand and working those lungs when she screams!

Feeding: All. The. Time. She's getting better now, but in the early weeks, she was feeding on demand, and was eating anywhere from every hour to 3.5 hours if she took a big nap. I'm working to build a milk stockpile for when she goes to daycare, but it's hard to get ahead when she eats voraciously every couple of hours. I'm hoping to work her into more of a schedule and stretch her out in the coming weeks.

Behavior: Fusspot... With the reflux and her apparent rejection of napping during the day, she's a fussy baby a lot. We generally go out in the stroller or car when she gets like that because it keeps her calm and gives her a place to rest. We're on the go a lot these days.

Sleep: Hit or miss. Before her medicine really kicked in, she was waking up sometimes every 1-1.5 hours. That. was. rough. A good night early on would mean a 2-3 hour stretch. So thankful it's better now! She doesn't like to nap during the day much, unless she's in someone's arms (spoiled!) or in the car seat. We need to work on that...

Clothes: Newborn only--she looks so cute in the tiny onesies and footie pjs. :)

Favorite moments: Getting sleep! :) I love having her nap on my chest for hours (because usually I nap then too!), I love stroking her soft skin and giving her a bath. She's just precious.

Most challenging: Reflux, for sure. The fussiness, the obvious pain she's in, the feeling of helplessness--those are the worst! I'm glad her medicine is working more now, but it was a very tough few weeks. The fussing is still hard.

Looking forward to: Smiles on demand, interacting more with her, playing with toys and reading, etc. I'm ready to have more of a schedule and reliability. I'm looking forward to showing her off at our family reunion next weekend!
