Weekend Recap

I'm getting back in the groove of regular blogging. Here's what we did on our fabulous weekend!

Friday:
Chance had to work extra late because of a problem at the bank, so Cara and I played at home, read books and cooked dinner. I fed her a late snack so that she would be OK to wait fora  late dinner. Chance got home a little after 7 (ugh), and we ate, played for a little bit longer and put Cara to bed. Before Chance came home, Cara discovered her Ariel sunglasses that Buck and Mimi got for her, and she spent a while reading her own books. She climbed up on the couch, sat on the pillow and started reading "Do Gog Go".

She wore her first full ponytail to school--can't believe her hair is long enough to do this! Before bedtime, she HAD to read her favorite new book: Sophia the First sounds and story book. I bought it on a whim at the grocery store, and it's quickly become the favorite in the rotation. Our obsession with Sophia is about to be full-blown.

Saturday:
Cara woke up at her usual 7:15, but then--glory be!--laid down and went back to sleep until 8:45!!!!! She tossed and turned, and I kept one eye and ear on the monitor the whole time, but it felt so great to not have to bolt out of bed just after 7 for once on a Saturday.

When she woke up, we had breakfast (I made my coffee, but left it on the dining table all day... oops!) while Chance did the yardwork. "Perks" of homeownership... We had ADT come out to install our alarm system, so he worked and Cara and I ran some errands. When we got home, the alarm was done and Cara had a nap.

That afternoon, Buck and Mimi came back to visit! They had been in San Antonio on vacation, so they stopped through on their way through on Monday, and then on their way back on Saturday. Cara was so happy to see them again. She immediately requested books to be read and kisses to be given.

We went to Poage Park for a little bit, but all Cara wanted to do was swing and climb exactly 3 steps on any piece of equipment. No slides, no other toys, just "swing!!!!". :)

We went to Amici's up the street for dinner because we wanted yummy, cheap food in an easy place. There were several graduation gatherings and even a prom group there, but we still had fun. Cara loved her pizza like Mommy did!

Sunday:
Mom and Dad had to leave before church in the morning, so we said goodbyes before we left. And the perk of having someone else in the house is that we get to take a family picture! This rarely happens.

I got her belated Mother's Day gift at church that she made a couple of weeks ago in her Sunday School class. This is perfect. Love my sweet, beautiful little girl.

After church, we had lunch and all got naps. I've been fighting a cold with Cara for a few days, so it felt good to crawl back in bed for a little bit. In the afternoon, we did chores like vacuum the whole house (exhausting!), meal plan for the week and go to HEB. Cara had fun wearing her shades all through the store!

We cleaned up the house after dinner, watched a little TV, prepped meals for the week, etc. There are only 2 more full weeks of school plus 1 week of half-days for finals. Just a few more weekends (including our anniversary!) until freedom!
