Thursday was Cara's first day at daycare (a short-day practice run) while I worked my Junior League Deck the Halls market shift, Mom came to town on Friday, so we went shopping at the market and hung out. That night we went to bonfire and Pigskin for Homecoming. Cara did great at the bonfire, even during the fireworks, and Mom & Chance took her home while Meredith and I braved the 10:30 Pigskin show. I will NOT do that again. I was so tired, and it was such a late night before an early morning for the parade. Lesson learned.
Saturday was my birthday, but we were so wrapped up in the festivities that I sometimes forgot about it myself. On Saturday morning (early!), we staked out a spot on the parade route, but did more chatting than watching. Cara slept most of the time, and the parade was a bit of a bust by the time it got to campus. KOT's float broke down and prevented other floats from making the route. Chance and Erik, former float chair, were very disappointed.
Mom kept Cara while Chance and I went to the football tailgate and game. We were so tired and the game was a snoozer, so we left at halftime just before the torrential downpour. Good call.
We spent Sunday resting and prepping for me to return to school the next day. It was such a fun weekend, full of seeing so many friends and making memories with Cara. I would love for her to say that she's never missed a Baylor Homecoming in her life, so we'll aim to make that happen for years to come. Enjoy the picture show!
{ready for our Homecoming adventure!}
{so tired..but committed to making it through the show}
{early morning parade, and this is how CBC spent most of it}
{sweet friends at our tailgate}
I loved this crazy weekend and tried to soak up all the fun things. I wasn't ready for it to end because school started quick and dirty on Monday. That's another post for another day...
Patrick & I did our first and last late night Pigskin when I was 9 months prego... don't recommend that either! :)
