This weekend, Chance and I spent a weekend in Dallas, and Cara spent the weekend with Buck and Mimi. We normally do a quick getaway for our birthdays in November instead of buying presents for each other, but the first free weekend we had was December 15!
We took off after Chance worked Saturday morning and drove to Mom and Dad's. We set Cara up with them, and left her in good hands with them and Nana and Grandad. I know it was SUCH a sacrifice for them to watch their granddaughter overnight... :)
We booked a hotel through Hotwire (our favorite way to find a getaway hotel), and checked into the Westin Park Central in North Dallas. We'd been there before, so we knew it would be a nice place. After some recommendations from friends, we decided to go to The Porch for dinner. We couldn't have picked a better restaurant! It was so great--a really good mix of casual and swanky with the yummiest food ever. It's a new favorite of ours, and we'll definitely go back when we go to Dallas again.
I requested a late check out for Sunday morning, so we didn't have to leave until 2 p.m. Our big plans were to SLEEP!!! I slept from 11 p.m.-7 a.m., and then from 7:30-11:30 again. It was fantastic. The bed was comfy, the A/C was free, and we got some great rest.
Cara did so great with Buck and Mimi. She ate really well, slept a lot and was her typical sweet self for them. I missed her like crazy, and was so glad to be welcomed back by her giant bashful smile. But it was wonderful for me and Chance to get away for some alone time, even for just 20 hours. We got to have quality conversation, a fun outing and sleep. We may take my parents up on their generosity again soon! :)
We'll go back to Dallas this weekend for Christmas with them, so they'll get to see Cara very soon. It was a wonderful weekend for each of us!
that restaurant looks fantastic! and how great that you could have a night alone together! Cara looks adorable.
